Technology is Messy

Messy Technology

These headsets with mics are new this year after complaints from my students that they couldn't add their voice to the projects and my begging to the principal. I don't know how many times I have straightened up this bin, but it always gets messy because the headsets are used so often. Before I cleaned the bin AGAIN, I snapped this picture. I like it because it reminds me that technology is messy. Especially when you are playing with new tools. The computers may crash using MovieMaker, I may have to wait for another Animoto Education link, and I may even have to beg to get Flash updated on the computer lab's desktops, but I will keep moving forward. I know the mess is worth it.

  1. I totally know what you mean! Tech is messy! But worth it.

  2. This photo is a great reminder. I'm reaching a point where I'm feeling frustrated and overwhelmed but I know in a week or two I'll be done with some of the projects and feeling better. Then I just have to wait for the next wave to hit! But you're right it's worth it and I'll continue to move forward too.

  3. It is messy. Learning is messy too. Your headsets remind me of the messiness that is the wiring in our brains.

  4. All you need to solve the problem is coat racks or the garage organizers to hold rakes, shovels. OR even better ask your students how to solve it. Plastic zip locks would work to. I have used neither BTW

  5. @Nedra I am in the same situation, trying to finish projects before the end of the quarter.

I think my mind wires are a little messier than usual lately. ;-)

  7. @ Brent

Thanks for the suggestions! I did start out with the bags, but have a bad habit of getting so involved in projects that I lose track of time. As a result, I take some of the blame of the messiness.
